Welcome to the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law. The Section was inaugurated on the 9th of December 2004, by the then President of the NBA, Chief Bayo Ojo, SAN.

The Section is made up of 15 (Fifteen) Council Members drawn from all sectors of Commercial Law Practice. The Section functions through committees whose chairmen are appointed by the Council Chairman. Mr. George Etomi is the Chairman of the Section, with Mr. Adegbola Adeniyi acting as the Secretary.

The Section on Business Law is modeled principally along the lines of the International Bar Association (IBA); thus most of its activities are conducted through committees. Twenty committees have been drawn up ranging from Arbitration, Communications to Maritime and Taxation, amongst others.

3rd BUSINESS LAW CONFERENCE

The Section on Business Law of the Nigerian Bar Association held its 3rd Business Law Conference from Tuesday, 25th March 2008 to Friday, 28th March 2008 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotels Abuja.

The conference drew participants from all over Nigeria, Africa, UK, US and China and these included policy formulators, industry practitioners and the law regime.

The Key note address was delivered by Mr. Nana Akufo-Addo, the Former Attorney General & Former Foreign Minister and now the Presidential Flag Bearer of New Patriotic Party, Ghana (the ruling party).

Membership Requirements
Membership is open to any member of the Nigerian Bar Association upon satisfactory completion of the Registration Form and the payment of the Section dues.
THE FUTURE OF LEGAL PRACTICE IN NIGERIA

The NBA Working Group on Foreign Legal Practice (NBA WG) in Nigeria held a one day workshop on the future of legal practice in Nigeria on Wednesday 21st November 2007 at The Federal Palace Hotels Victoria Island Lagos.
